Raise your hand if you’re a makeup addict like me.
I’ll be the first to admit, I have a problem with makeup. I always want to try the newest products even though I probably have three products that do the same thing. I love to travel, but I seem to struggle with what to pack in my makeup bag. In this post I’m going to share with you my top makeup products you need in your travel bag – both high end and drugstore versions.
Foundation & Concealer
I have personally found that if I am only going away for a day or two, a stick foundation is definitely an essential for me. Foundation sticks are great because you can apply a lot or a little in exactly the area you want it. There are full coverage formulas that can double as your concealer for your under eye area. I usually blend out my foundation with a brush or sponge. I will link my favorites down below. You may have already heard me say that I have very dry skin, especially in the winer. Most of the products I am going to link are geared towards dry skin, but almost all have another version for normal/oily skin types.
Tarte Clay Stick Foundation
I love Tarte. Their products are made with more natural ingredients than a lot of high end brands. I have purchased many of their products and have zero complaints about any of them. This foundation stick creates a medium to full coverage, natural look. It never feels like I have makeup on when I wear this foundation. The Clay Stick comes in twelve different shades and lasts up to twelve hours!
NYX Mineral Stick Foundation
For being labeled a drugstore brand, I think NYX Professional Makeup has some fantastic products! The Mineral Stick Foundation is actually the first stick formula I had ever bought. It goes on the skin and blends very well. NYX offers fifteen shades and buildable coverage although I would say it can only become a medium coverage. I also buy shades darker than my skin tone to use for cream contouring!
Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Concealer
I’m guessing some of you have heard of this before. It has become the holy grail of concealers. It is definitely long wearing and does not crease. If you want to splurge on something, try this concealer.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
Pretty much the same reputation as Shape Tape in the drugstore world! This is a great concealer for every day use.
Blush, Bronzer & Highlighter
I have a slight obsession with makeup palettes. It doesn’t matter if they’re eyeshadow, lip or blush. Palettes are also perfect for travel because they usually contain combinations of eyeshadow, bronzer and blush. And to be honest, for quick getaways Ioften use my bronzer for eye shadow anyway!
Tarte Swamp Queen Palette
Chances are if you are a follower of beauty gurus on YouTube, you have heard of the Swamp Queen aka Grav3yard Girl. Her fans also call her Bunny. She collaborated with Tarte to make a multi-purpose palette with I absolutely love! It has 9 eyeshadows, a bronzer, blush and highlighter. It even comes with an eye brush. It is listed as limited edition, but you can still purchase it from Tarte’s website HERE.
Maybelline The City Kit
These eye and face kits are a new product from Maybelline. The kits contain 8 eyeshadows, a blush and a highlighter. The perfect option to pack in your travel makeup bag! Right now there are only two color choices, but I’m sure more are on the way. Get yours HERE
Milani Baked Bronzer
I LOVE Milani products! Sometimes the brand can be hard to find, but I think they usually carry it at CVS Pharmacy and now I see it at my Ulta store. The colors are beautiful and I think they stay on really well. I use this bronzer for eye shadow in a pinch quite often. The three colors will match up with just about anyone’s skin tone. You can find Milani Baked Bronzer HERE.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector
To me, Becca Cosmetics highlighters are what put them on the map. The formula and colors are absolutely perfect. Maybe that’s where the name comes from – HA! Becca highlighters come in several formulas including pressed (powder), poured (cream) and liquid. There are multiple shades that are great matches for every skin tone. The price point may be a bit high end, but it is definitely worth it in my opinion! See all the beautiful color options HERE.
Flower Pots Powder Blush
The blush from the brand Flower Beauty is a steal at $10. Flower Beauty is the cosmetics line by actress Drew Barrymore. I find the brand at Walmart but I’m not sure if that is the only place. The formula is a soft, satin finish that blends very well. You can also build the coverage for a more intense look. Purchase Flower Pots Blush HERE.
I have so many brushes it is borderline a problem. LOL. But when I travel, I try to use as many for multiple purposes as I can. Many of my favorite brushes are from EcoTools, which you can find at stores like Target and Ulta Beauty. They have some amazing brush kits as well that give you a great start to building a brush collection. I’m going to link a few of my favorites here for you.
